A Nadi man appeared in court in the last hour for allegedly stealing items belonging to a tourist at a backpacker’s accommodation.

Paula Marewai is charged with one count of theft.

He has been remanded in custody and the case has been adjourned to the 28th of this month.

Investigators were also able to recover some of the items stolen.

The video of the man stealing the items was widely circulated on facebook last week as a call was made for members of the public to identify the person.

Meanwhile in another similar case, a man has been arrested and is currently in custody at the Lautoka Police Station.

This is in relation to the video footage of the man befriending a dog and then breaking into a house in Lautoka.

The owner’s surveillance camera caught the man in action, and this was widely circulated on Facebook.

Investigators managed to identify the suspect and some items have also been recovered.
