Residents living in parts of the Nadi area stretching all the way to parts of Sigatoka and the whole of Korolevu will be without electricity from 6am to 6pm on Sunday.

Energy Fiji Limited CEO Hasmukh Patel says this is a planned maintenance work where the wooden power poles that support the 33,000 volts transmission line and transmit electricity from the Waqadra Sub-Station in Nadi to the Momi Sub-Station are being upgraded alongside the Queens Highway causing this power supply disruption.

Patel says the EFL teams will be working throughout the day to upgrade and erect new 15.5 metres and 17 metres wooden poles.

He says this planned maintenance work was earlier scheduled for Sunday, 18th February, and 19th May this year but had to be deferred due to adverse weather conditions.

They further say that EFL will do its utmost to ensure that any power interruptions are kept to a minimum.

He adds that works are planned to be carried out on a Sunday as to minimize disruption to their commercial and industrial customers in Nadi and Sigatoka.

The CEO says in the event the weather conditions are unfavourable, then this exercise will be postponed, and their customers will be informed accordingly.
