A 34-year-old unemployed Nadera man alleged to be linked to the case of unlawful importation of liquid methamphetamine has been charged.

Police say the accused is alleged to have been the driver of the vehicle conveying two Counter Narcotics Bureau officers, earlier charged with unlawful possession of illicit drugs, unlawful importation and possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime.

They say following consultations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the accused has been charged with one count of unlawful transportation of illicit drugs and will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

Police say the man is unemployed and resides in Nadera while the two Counter Narcotics Bureau officers Ratu Lote and Sevuloni Lubi have appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court on Monday, jointly charged with two counts of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and unlawful importation of illicit drugs.

They say Lewaivuna is also charged with possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime, for allegedly being in possession of $650, suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Their case has been adjourned to the 13th of this month.
