NSW Blues coach names veterans Nathan Cleary and Latrell Mitchell for State of Origin

The New South Wales Blues coach, Laurie Daley has named veterans Nathan Cleary and Latrell Mitchell for the upcoming State of Origin match, which kicks off next Wednesday at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

Cleary will partner with Mitchell Moses in the halves while Mitchell as expected has been named as the centre for the Blues.

Meanwhile, Max King has been named to make his debut off the bench.

It's an incredible rise for King, who had struggled with injuries during his time at the Storm and arrived at the Bulldogs three years ago with his career on the line.

The 28-year-old is the only fresh face in the team Daley has picked for game one.

Dylan Edwards retains his spot at fullback, while Payne Haas has been named in the front row despite a quad injury suffered in round 11.

Haas isn't the only player under an injury cloud for the Blues, with star centre Stephen Crichton dealing with a groin complaint.

As a result, centre Campbell Graham and Melbourne prop Stefano Utoikamanu have been named in the squad and will act as cover for both players.

Hudson Young has earned a recall on the bench, while Zac Lomax and Brian To'o keep their wing spots despite both players only getting through one game after injuries.

The NSW team includes Dylan Edwards, Brian To'o, Stephen Crichton, Latrell Mitchell, Zac Lomax, Mitchell Moses, Nathan Cleary, Mitch Barnett, Reece Robson, Payne Haas, Angus Crichton, Liam Martin, Isaah Yeo, Connor Watson, Spencer Leniu, Hudson Young, Max King.

Reserves: Campbell Graham, Stefano Utoikamanu, Haumole Olakau'atu.
