Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem.

The Fijian Elections Office says the National Federation Party has made no complaints to the FEO since the campaign period commenced on 26th April 2022 and any claims and allegations by Professor Biman Prasad are not only unsubstantiated, but false.

The FEO is referring to the comments made by Prasad in Parliament claiming that complaints were purportedly made by the NFP to the Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem.

Saneem says the FEO received one complaint from the NFP on 21st March this year and it was found that it lacked any legal basis and therefore could not be actioned and the same was explained to the NFP by FEO’s letter dated 28th March 2022.

He says the NFP did not dispute this as it did not appeal the Supervisor’s decision.

Saneem says in any event, all political parties must ensure that the complaints that they make are arising from the operation of the law and the Supervisor will not be able to action any complaints they do not have any legal basis.

When questioned by Legend FM News on Saneem’s comments that no complaint has been received from NFP during the campaign period, Prasad says he will respond to this during the debate on the Electoral Amendment Bill on Thursday.
