It was a difficult Tuesday morning and the first day of Term 3, as some children living near Autoworld in Viria East, Vatuwaqa were unable to attend school due to a fire that broke out around 6am.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Moave Marama says she was getting her son ready for school when they heard an explosion from the Autoworld building.

Marama, who is a single mother, says she left everything behind and ran outside to save her son and her Bible in case the fire spread to her house as she lives close to Autoworld.

She adds that her 13-year-old son, Aisake Turaga, a Year 8 student at MGM Primary School, ran to the Vatuwaqa Police Post and asked them to call the National Fire Authority.

Meanwhile, the National Fire Authority is still at the scene and has managed to contain the fire.

The Autoworld building is destroyed.

No other building in the vicinity were damaged.
