Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and Minister for Education Rosy Akbar were at the opening of the Suvavou Kindergarten.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says he and his Ministers would fork out their entire salaries on top of the pay cuts they have had already taken, before they ever see free education go away.

Bainimarama highlighted this while opening the new kindergarten school in Suvavou Village today.

He says they have also maintained civil servants' salaries including teachers, so that they can focus entirely on the education of Fiji’s students.

Bainimarama says he believes investment in education is the best investment they can make.

He says he is delighted to be opening the Suvavou Kindergarten which is the realisation of a promise he made in 2018.

Bainimarama says today, they celebrate that promise delivered in the form of a $150,000 new school building, along with new desks, chairs and classroom equipment all of which students can proudly call their own.

He says when new schools or school buildings are opened these are new worlds of opportunity for young people.
