Most restrooms in the country are dark and dungeon.

Minister for Local Government, Premila Kumar stated this while officially opening the Korovou Restroom this afternoon.

Kumar says people prefer a nice and modern restroom whereas the municipal councils go for the cheaper option of just creating a restroom.

Kumar says she has seen a gap between what the community wants and what the councils create.

Kumar says the councils will go and buy the cheapest tile for the public restrooms and won’t even bother if the colour fits or not.

She says the restrooms should have natural lights and have good ventilation. Kumar says the Korovou public toilet facility was in a bad condition and a modern facility was needed.

She says the Kings Highway is also used by people when they go to Natovi Jetty and anyone travelling on Kings Road can use this facility.

Meanwhile, Kumar has revealed they are going to work on the Korovou town project and have managed to acquire the land from the landowners through a leasing arrangement.

She says work is in the first stage and they do not want to develop Korovou Town based on old concepts.
