Muaniweni residents are pleading with the public for assistance to help rebuild the Muaniweni Crematorium after it was destroyed in a fire on the 26th of October. Muaniweni Advisory Councilor, Mukesh Deo says this is the only crematorium site in Naitasiri.

Deo adds in the worst-case scenario, people will have to take their loved ones to Raralevu, however, this will cost them more in terms of transportation costs.

He says the incident happened at around 2pm to 2.30pm when a body was brought in to be cremated and the fire had spread out to the structure, which caused a damage of $30,000.

The Advisory Councilor further says attempts to save the structure turned futile. If you wish to assist, you can contact President Naren Prasad on 8400607.
