The Māori Queen, Te Arikinui Kuini Ngā Wai Hono i te Pō, and her family have been looking forward to witnessing the installation of the Sau kei Lau, na Tui Lau, Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara, tomorrow in Tubou Village, Lakeba.
They will be joining the Tongan royals—King Tupou VI and his wife, Her Majesty Queen Nanasipau‘u—for the installation.
The Queen’s spokesperson, Rahui Papa, told fijivillage News that the Queen’s presence at the installation is a way of reconnecting the ties between the chiefly family of Vuanirewa in Lau and the family of the Māori Queen.
Papa says that due to the impact of COVID-19 and other political matters, they have not been able to meet and talk.
He says this event has brought them together again as a family to reconnect.
He adds that despite differences in other parts of the world, we, as the Pacific family, need to come together and work towards the betterment of our shared future.
