Police had earlier said that the victim was sleeping with her mother and the suspect in the same bed

1 case of rape and 2 cases of attempted rape of children have been reported this month while there were 3 rape cases involving children last month.

The 27 year old man allegedly raped an 11 year old girl on the 7th of this month in Samabula. The man has been charged with 3 counts of rape and 1 count of sexual assault.

The accused who is the victim's uncle had asked her to massage his stomach in his house where he allegedly committed the offence several times.

In the second case, a 40 year old carpenter who had allegedly attempted to rape his step daughter in Suva last week, has been charged with one count of attempted rape and one count of sexual assault.

Police had earlier said that the victim was sleeping with her mother and the suspect in the same bed, and when her mother was in the bathroom, she heard her daughter scream.

They say when she returned, she noticed her daughter was alone and the suspect missing.

The next morning her daughter informed her of what allegedly happened.

In the third case, a 40 year old man has been charged with allegedly attempting to rape an 11 year old girl on Tuesday in a settlement in Ba.

Police say the man had allegedly taken the girl to a cassava plantation near the settlement they both reside in.

Police are again urging parents and guardians to closely monitor their children’s whereabouts at all times.

For the month of April, there were 3 alleged rape cases reported also involving children.

A 10 year old girl was allegedly raped twice by her uncle in Labasa last while a report of a 4 year old girl who was allegedly raped by her uncle was recorded at the Seaqaqa Police Station.
