Water Authority of Fiji Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg says an additional 26 million litres of water will be pushed into the Suva Nausori system when the Viria Water Project comes online to cater for the growing population.

While speaking during a media tour of WAF’s media facilities, Soderberg says the Waila Water Treatment plant services 60% of the Suva Nausori system and currently, they are doing upgrading works that are all geared to improving the services to people in the Suva Nausori corridor.

The Chief Operating Officer says the treatment plant supplies about 80 million litres of water to the Suva System and 24 to 26 million litres of water towards the Nausori system.

He adds once the Viria Project comes online, it will take over the Nausori system, and more water will be directed towards the Suva Nausori system.
