More rain is expected over Fiji and chances of TD01F system to develop into cyclone is low – Met. Office

The Fiji Meteorological Office in Nadi is stressing that the Topical Disturbance, TD01F, has a low chance of turning into a tropical cyclone when it passes Fiji, however, people are urged to take precautionary measures as more rain is expected over the Fiji group.

The Nadi Weather Office says TD01F lies about 430km west of Yasawa-i-rara at 9am this morning and continues to move southeast at about 15km/hr.

They say the associated trough of low pressure with clouds and rain will continue to affect the country until tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Heavy Rain Warning that was in force for the Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, the western half and interior of Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, the northern Lau Group and Lomaiviti Group, is now in force for the rest of Fiji.

A Flood Alert remains in force for flood-prone areas adjacent to and downstream of all major rivers in Fiji.

A Flash Flood Warning remains in force for all low-lying, flash flood-prone areas and small streams for the northern division.

A Flash Flood Alert remains in force for all low-lying, flash flood-prone areas and small streams of Viti Levu.

A Strong Wind Warning remains in force for the coastal land areas of Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups, the western half and interior of Viti Levu from Sigatoka to Nadi, Ba through to Rakiraki, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and the Lomaiviti Group.
