Chairman of the Lau Provincial Council, Ratu Meli Saubulinayau.

The Chairman of the Lau Provincial Council, Ratu Meli Saubulinayau, is hoping to see more assistance given to the people in the upcoming National Budget because a lot of people are facing hardships due to the rise in the cost of living.

He says with the current drug issue faced by the nation, more people are seen out there on the streets looking for assistance.

Ratu Meli also questions the Government if they will not assist then who will assist these people.

When questioned by fijivillage News if there is a plan by the Provincial Council to assist those Lauans who are living on the streets in the mainland, Ratu Meli says what they can do is encourage those people to return to the islands.

He says they also assist them by finding them shelter.
