Mokani Rugby Club launches historic merchandise partnership with Life After Rugby and Forwards Pack

Mokani Rugby Club launches historic merchandise partnership with Life After Rugby and Forwards Pack

The Fa & Company Mokani Rugby Club celebrated a milestone moment in its history, formalising two key partnerships through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) that mark a new era of growth, unity, and innovation for the Club.

President of Mokani Rugby Club, Joseph Rodan Snr, described the event as a pivotal moment in the continued growth and evolution of the Club.

He says the agreements—one with Life After Rugby (LAR) and another with the Mokani Rugby Club Former and Current Forwards Pack—set in motion a long-held dream to establish a structured and sustainable merchandise initiative that reflects the Club’s identity and values, both on and off the field.

Rodan Snr says these agreements are more than just formalities-they activate dreams that have lived in the hearts of their community.

He says this serves as a call to action—showing that they are ready to evolve, not by abandoning their roots, but by expanding their branches.

He also says they are demonstrating that growth does not mean forgetting where we come from; it means honouring it by creating new opportunities—especially for our youth, alumni, and supporters worldwide.

The MOU with Life After Rugby, led by former Mokani player and coach Mosese Vueti and Josefa Tarotaro, appoints LAR as the official overseas producer and distributor of Mokani Rugby Club merchandise.

The partnership fulfils a critical component of the Club’s 2023–2028 Strategic Development Plan by engaging the rugby diaspora, strengthening alumni relations, and promoting global partnerships.

In their speech, Vueti and Tarotaro reflected on the grassroots spirit that sparked the birth of Life After Rugby.

Vueti says they used to hand-print shirts with Mokani Rugby, just to show up to games with something to wear.

He says those shirts were not just clothing—they were a badge of pride stitched with loyalty and brotherhood.

He adds they formalise a partnership that honours those beginnings and builds a future for the next generation.

Vueti says this is a commitment to continue walking with the community, even after hanging up their boots.

He says it’s about making sure that the Mokani spirit travels further, lasts longer, and connects deeper.

The second MOU entrusts the Mokani Rugby Former and Current Forwards Pack with the local sale and distribution of club merchandise.

Representing the Pack, Ratu Filimoni Cakobau emphasised the significance of players taking ownership of the Club’s development, saying this initiative brings their merchandise efforts home.

He says it gives their players and former players a sense of purpose and responsibility beyond the try line.

He also says they are not just wearing the logo— they are carrying the vision forward, ensuring that each sale contributes to the next chapter of Mokani Rugby.

He adds it’s a reminder that leadership doesn't end when you leave the field—it evolves into service.

A key highlight of this agreement is the waiving of a 5 percent sales commission by the Forwards Pack, allowing all proceeds from early merchandise sales to be directed toward the Club’s first capital project: the acquisition of gym equipment.

This symbolic act of unity directly supports the Club’s focus on player welfare, performance, and mental and physical resilience.

Both MOUs include robust provisions for financial transparency and accountability, approval processes for brand design and use and scheduled performance reporting.

These governance safeguards reflect the Club’s commitment to integrity, professionalism, and long-term sustainability as outlined in its Constitution and Strategic Plan.

Rodan Snr says they are not just selling merchandise—we are building a legacy of leadership.

He says they honour their past, serve the present, and invest in the future, and this partnership proves that anything is possible when we unite across generations and geographies.
