We hope to bring joy to the people of Fiji taking the queens around to meet with you as we prepare for the Miss Fiji pageant.

These are the words of the Miss Fiji pageant committee chair Felix Magnus as he shares to fijivillage News the preparations for the upcoming festival.

Magnus says plans are progressing well, and this year the competition will take on a new direction as organisers work to reconnect the event with communities across the country.

He says all municipalities are on board and ready to receive the seven contestants representing Suva, Nadi, Nasinu, Lautoka, Labasa, Ba and Rakiraki.

He says contestants will arrive this Sunday before beginning a nationwide tour designed to bring Miss Fiji directly to the people.

Magnus says on Monday they are on the first flight out to meet the people of Labasa and Savusavu, Tuesday they head down to Lami to visit the people in Lami and Navua, have lunch in Sigatoka and then sleep over in Nadi.

He says that contestants have also been encouraged to use their platform meaningfully.

The Miss Fiji pageant will be held next month from the 10th to the 13th in Suva.
