Ministry of Finance to set up National Planning Office to monitor and evaluate Govt expenditure and projects

Ministry of Finance to set up National Planning Office to monitor and evaluate Govt expenditure and projects

The Ministry of Finance will be looking to set up a National Planning Office, which will include monitoring and evaluation of capital expenditure and projects after Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad had a site visit in the Western Division. Professor Prasad says they want to make sure that the allocation in the budget is delivered efficiently and effectively and to get good outcomes and value for money. He adds that while they do this, the Ministry will also listen to the people generally.

The Deputy Prime Minister says they will be on top of some of these problems that have been encountered in the past due to the lack of proper planning, monitoring and evaluation.

Professor Prasad says one good example of the lack of monitoring and evaluation is Govind Park in Ba.
