The Ministry of Education's plan is to recruit 1,125 new teachers, ensuring continued support for education delivery and workforce strengthening was highlighted at the World Teachers' Day celebration.
The Ministry of Education highlights that the civil service retirement age has been extended to 60, with policies being revised to allow teachers who have left the profession to return.
They also highlighted that they have been supporting teachers through salary upgrades, step-ups for thousands of teachers and non-teaching staff, full-day pay for Early Childhood Education teachers, location and special allowances, recognition of teaching qualifications such as Secondary Teacher Training Certificate and International Diploma in Tertiary Training.
Ministry of Education adds that they have also expanded professional development programs locally and overseas, elaborating on initiatives like Women in School Leadership promote gender inclusion and leadership opportunities within the teaching profession.
The Ministry of Education says it will continue to support teachers through policies, professional development, improved benefits, and initiatives.
The UNESCO 2025 World Teachers’ Day is celebrated under the international theme “Recasting teaching as a collaborative profession”, signifying a collective vision for the future of education, where teachers, administrators, policymakers, and other stakeholders work together to address challenges, implement effective practices, and ensure the success of students.
