Education Minister Rosy Akbar

Education Minister Rosy Akbar says the Ministry is everywhere at the moment, firefighting with issues as one day there is this and one day there is that, some students stealing and somebody has their roti parcel stolen and the teacher did not do anything.

During a discussion with Sangam heads of schools in Lautoka, Akbar says there are complaints which could be resolved by heads of schools but it is being escalated to the Ministry.

She also says some heads of schools do not even know how to enter data into FEMIS or the Fijian Education Management Information System.

FEMIS provides information on schools, students, teachers, finance, infrastructure, assessments, examinations and other information and is accessible to all levels of the Ministry.

She says some heads of schools do not know because someone else has been doing it all along.

Akbar went on to say that the school grants are not released on time because class audits are not entered into FEMIS on time and eventually she has to take all the blame.

She challenged heads of schools to lead by example and inspire their teachers.
