Facilitating the movement of people from Suva to Lakeba since June has resulted in millions of dollars in revenue for Goundar Shipping.
This was shared by the Ship Captain Aca Small to fijivillage News today as the people from the Lau Province prepare for the installation ceremony of the Tui Nayau, Sau ni Vanua o Lau.
He adds that Interlink Shipping has also stepped in seeking their help to support the increased public demand.
Small says the people of Lakeba chartered the LP 7 vessel to help accommodate the surge in travellers heading to the event last night.
Captain Small says that an event of this scale has both boosted and tested their operations, and he is pleased that their team has been able to meet the transportation needs of the public so far.
Goundar Shipping has transported a large number of vehicles, livestock, and even a bus, along with thousands of passengers making their way to the much-anticipated ceremony.
Captain Small says they are proud to support the people of Fiji during such a historic occasion.
The installation ceremony of the Tui Nayau, Sau ni Vanua o Lau, will be held tomorrow, while the installation of the Tui Lau will take place in Tubou on Thursday.
We will provide live coverage of the two installation ceremonies on our website, facebook and YouTube pages, fijivillage and VITIFM.
