The Ma’unatul Islam Association of Fiji Lautoka Branch who have been assisting needy families affected by COVID-19 since last year are reminding people that there are families in the West who still do not have jobs and cannot put food on the table to celebrate Eid.

President, Mohammed Rafiq says in addition to this, the rise in food prices has also put extra burden on some families.

Rafiq says they distributed food packs to some families from Tavua to Nadi last week so that people could celebrate Eid with their loved ones.

He says this is a time when people should put their differences aside and work together.

Rafiq adds they did not look at ones religion or ethnic background when they distributed food packs and vouchers to needy families last year.

He also says families are grateful that they can finally celebrate Eid without any COVID-19 restrictions.

Rafiq says families are really excited that they can move freely and meet their loved ones during the celebrations.
