Members of the Ma’unatul Islam Association of Fiji Lautoka Branch today handed out $65 worth of food vouchers to 40 needy families in the Western Division.

They have also given $200 cash for a sick girl in Lovu, Lautoka.

Association Secretary Abdul Kadar says they had identified families who have been unemployed for some time and were struggling to put food on the table.

Kadar says they normally give food packs but decided to give vouchers this time because families have different needs and they can buy whatever they do not have.

in-story

He adds people can buy everything using the voucher except for liquor.

Kadar says the assistance is not limited to their members and they have also given the vouchers to people of other religious beliefs.

He has also thanked its members in Fiji and overseas who have donated for this worthy cause.
