Get ready to pay more as there will be a significant increase in fuel and gas prices from tomorrow.

The price of kerosene will increase from $1.57 to $1.82 per litre, an increase of 25 cents, the price of unleaded fuel will go up from $2.53 to $2.75 per litre, an increase of 22 cents, the price of diesel will go up from $2.10 to $2.31 per litre, an increase of 21 cents while the price of premix will increase from $2.14 to $2.35 per litre, an increase of 21 cents.

The price of a 12kg cylinder of gas will increase from $44.96 to $48.30, an increase of $3.34, the price of a 4.5kg cylinder of gas will go up from $16.86 to $18.11, an increase of $1.25 and the price of a 13kg cylinder of gas will go up from $48.71 to $52.33, an increase of $3.62.

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission says the resurgence of lockdowns in Eastern Europe and Russia due to rising COVID-19 cases, as well as soaring cases in the UK raised further concerns about near-term oil demand and weighed on oil prices.

It says fuel prices have been impacted by the movement in the international freight rate and the exchange rate.

The FCCC adds the major reasons for the movement in prices for all LPG products are due to unfavourable movement in Butane Contract Price (CP) and international freight, which were greater than the gains from slight weakening of the USD against the Fijian dollar.
