Maritime Schools show up despite drop in numbers ahead of Netball Championship

Preparations are well underway for the highly anticipated Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Championships this week, even though there is a drop in the number of participating maritime schools compared to last year.

Netball Association’s Vice President, Josua Qalo confirmed to fijivillage Sports that only four maritime schools, including Koro Island High School, Gau Secondary School, Ratu Finau Secondary and Beqa Yanuca Secondary, participated in the Maritime Secondary School Netball Competition yesterday in Suva.

He further states that, despite having only four maritime schools this year, the Association is still focusing on grassroots development.

Qalo adds that the tournament is shaping up to be an exciting one, with powerhouse teams like St Joseph’s Secondary School and defending national U19 champions Adi Cakobau School preparing well.

The tournament starts tomorrow and will conclude on Friday.
