Mount Crusaders kicked off their first ever 7s tournament with an impressive 14-0 win over a formidable Raiwasa Taveuni side at the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s.
The team kept the pressure on from the first whistle and played most of the game in Taveuni’s half.
Captain Maikeli Vurai led by example with big tackles and scoring a try in the first half with Manoa Korodrau scoring their second try.
Mount Crusaders were only formed a week ago with all of the team members made up of church volunteers from Nakorovatu, Vunidawa.
In other results: Army green beat Lani Cavaliers 31-5, Blue Diamond beat Bua Ruggers 31 -12, Police Blue beat Navy 22-14 and Ratu Filise beat Navatulevu 17-5.
