Maori designer aims to inspire local artists during Fiji Fashion Week

Renowned Maori designer, Kiri Nathan who has designed for the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, former US President Barack Obama and artists like Beyonce, Usher and Ed Sheeran says she is excited to meet local designers during the Fiji Fashion Week this weekend.

Nathan says the designs that she will be showcasing this Friday are inspired by Fiji and the tropical season.

She says they would love to collaborate with Fijian designers and is excited to meet Fijian students who are looking into fashion as a career.

The designer further says their sense of responsibility as indigenous creatives is to ensure that they have taken into account that they are respectful of the culture and are always looking to support other indigenous designers.

Nathan is urging designers to never forget their culture and be true to themselves.

The 15th Fiji Fashion Week will be held this Friday and Saturday at the Vodafone Arena where 22 of the best local and 3 overseas fashion designers will showcase their best designs.

More than 1,000 tickets are available for shows on each day however, most of the tickets are sold.
