Bruno Fernandes scored a goal in the 78th minute to seal the win for United.
Both teams were locked 1 all at half time.
Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood scored the other 2 goals for Manchester United while Mohammed Salah scored both goals for Liverpool.
In other matches Chelsea beat Luton 3-1, Leicester City beat Brentford 3-1 while Burnley beat Fulham 3-0.
