A 57-year-old man who allegedly raped his 11-year-old niece in Nausori has been remanded in custody.

The man had pleaded not guilty of 6 counts of rape and 2 counts of attempted rape.

He is alleged to have raped his niece on 6 different occasions between the 1st of January 2017 to the 31st of December 2019.

The State lawyer told the court that they object to bail because the place where the man will be residing is still in close proximity with the victim.

The case has been adjourned to next Friday for bail ruling.
