A 47 year old man who is alleged to have assaulted the Turaga ni Koro of Baleyaganiga Village in Cakaudrove which resulted in his death, has been remanded in custody by the Labasa Magistrates Court.
Veresa Vatia has been charged with one count of murder and one count of failure to comply with orders for allegedly breaching social gathering restrictions.
Vatia is alleged to have assaulted the Turaga ni Koro while he was trying to disperse a drinking party last Thursday night.
The case will be called again on the 12th of August.
Meanwhile, three others who were allegedly drinking with the man have been granted bail by the Labasa Magistrates Court.
They have each been charged with a count of failure to comply with orders for allegedly breaching social gathering restrictions and the case will be called again on the 7th of August.
