A man in his 50s has passed away following an accident in Davuilevu yesterday morning.

Director Traffic, Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana says the victim was driving home after completing his night shift, where it is believed he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and crash into a post.

Officials from the National Fire Authority and Police attended to the scene, where the victim was rushed for medical treatment where he was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.

SSP Divuana says a post-mortem will be conducted to ascertain the victim’s cause of death.

The national road death toll currently stands at 40 compared to 63 for the same period last year.
