Man charged with allegedly being in possession of packs of marijuana in Labasa

Man charged with allegedly being in possession of packs of marijuana in Labasa

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu

A 49-year-old man has been charged with unlawful possession of illicit drugs after he was found with a suitcase filled with marijuana.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu says the arrest and seizure of the marijuana was a result of yet again the sharing of information from concerned members of the public, which is encouraging.

ACP Driu says the Labasa Taskforce team had received a tip alleging the man was in possession of illicit drugs.

The man was stopped outside a hotel along the main street in Labasa and searched, whereby a zip lock bag containing some dried marijuana leaves was found in his possession.

ACP Driu says a search was also conducted in the man’s vehicle which led to the discovery of a bag containing several branches of marijuana.
