Malomalo 7s to be held next month

Paradise Beverages launched its sponsorship of the Fiji Bitter Malomalo 7s today at the Fiji Brewery in WaluBay.

The Fiji Bitter Malomalo 7s will be held on the 16th and 17th of next month at Lawaqa Park.

22 men's teams will compete for the $5,000 prize money, 24 Under-21 teams will compete for the $1,000 prize money, and 8 teams will battle each other for the $700 prize money in the fellow Fijians category.

24 teams will take part in the netball competition.

The organisers say the Fellow Fijian category is a new concept that they will be incorporating in the tournament as they see that there are more Fijians of Indian descent interested in playing 7s rugby.

They say funds collected from the tournament will go towards the completion of some village projects such as the Malomalo water project, the installation of street lights, fencing of the village and village beautification.

Some teams that have confirmed their participation are defending champions Ratu Filise, Police Blue and Wadigi Salvo.
