The Lomaiviti Provincial Council is in support of the Government's commitment to the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People.

Lomaiviti Provincial Council chairman Ratu Etueni Caucau highlighted this after the closing ceremony of the Lomaiviti Provincial Council held at Studio 6 and says this is one of the resolutions they have agreed on which is to support the Government's initiative and action plan that relate to the resource owners in their 12 districts.

He says members of the Province also raised concerns about the qoliqoli and the ownership of their land where they need the laws to give more ownership to the resource owners and not limited to them so that they can also own the mineral rights.

He adds that resource owners also need the right to their resources on land and their iqoliqoli and support the platform that allows the Government to work with members of their Province.

Ratu Etueni says the Council always monitor the progress and hopes the government will support the plea made by the people of Lomaiviti.
