Local singer RATU says he made the right choice by choosing to care for his sick mum back in Fiji over his rugby career in New Zealand, and he says his mum inspired him to move forward until he released his new hit, Yalayala.

RATU says his mum passed away a few years ago and he has been inspired by her words while facing every challenge in his everyday life.

He adds that it was a very dark moment of his life after his mum passed away.

The story of the song, Yalayala is all about promises and vows made by those who fall in love.

Yalayala became the number one hit locally on the iTunes chart last year.

RATU Elijah Godwin Matanimeke Toroki Naitini hails from Ra Province.

He is part of the eight artists that will be performing in the VT1s concert this Saturday at the FMF National Gymnasium.

The VT1s $30-floor tickets are sold out while there are still a limited number of $15 pavilion tickets left.

There will be free entry for children under 10 years of age.

The concert will be held from 6pm to 9pm.
