The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side finished in third place at the HSBC SVNS Cape Town 7s after defeating France 26-19 in the third-place playoff this morning.

France drew first blood with a try to Andy Timo to lead 7-0, but Fiji responded a few minutes later through Terio Veilawa.

Speedster Vuiviawa Naduvalo broke through the French defence to score Fiji’s second try to put them in a 14-7 lead. However, France did not give in as they continued to push forward and managed to score another try through Liam Delamare.

France and Fiji were tied 14-all at halftime.

Fiji came out firing in the second half with Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Manueli Maisamoa scoring a try each to put Fiji in a 26-14 lead.

Simon Desert managed to pull one back for the French side but it was not enough to give them the win.

Coach Osea Kolinisau says they were not consistent enough but he is happy that they came out with points in their last game.

He admitted that they made a lot of mistakes against Argentina and they will be working on their mistakes before the next tournament.
