Students in Ovalau have been reminded by the Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro of the important role libraries play in education, sustainability, and community resilience, stressing that libraries inspire creativity and innovation beyond books.
While speaking at the launch of National Library Week 2025 at Bureta District School, Radrodro urged schools to celebrate the week with activities such as contests, parades, and book swaps to strengthen Fiji’s reading culture.
He emphasized that sustaining vibrant libraries is a shared responsibility among teachers, parents, and school leaders.
The Minister reaffirmed government support, noting a $72,000 investment in 2024–2025 to equip 114 schools with resources, particularly in remote areas, alongside ongoing training for teachers and librarians.
He adds that libraries are key to building a smarter and more sustainable Fiji.
This year’s theme is “Libraries for Sustainable Communities.”
