Laws of Fiji can now be accessed online

The Laws of Fiji can now be accessed for the first time online on www.laws.gov.fj

Acting President, Chief Justice Anthony Gates and Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum launched the website at the Grand Pacific Hotel in the last hour.

Sayed-Khaiyum says that the laws of our nation can now be accessed for free by anyone from anywhere around the world.

Chief Justice Gates says that since the launch of the 2016 Laws of Fiji, Parliament has enacted 83 Acts and 247 Legal Notices have been published.

He says that the website will not only make research easier and more accurate for thorough well prepared lawyers, it will also provide access to the laws of the land for ordinary Fijians.

He says that the Revised Edition of the Laws of Fiji in 2016 which has been published online comprise of 20 volumes of our laws which include 370 Acts and 884 subsidiary laws.

It also includes consolidation of laws published on or before 28th February 2019.

Outgoing Chief Justice Gates says that the website will be updated regularly.

The website has been developed with Lexis-Nexis Group, a corporation providing computer‑assisted legal research as well as business research and risk management services.
