Lautoka to host IDC instead of Ba due to lack of floodlights

The 2025 FMF Inter District Championship, initially scheduled to be held at the newly constructed 4R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba, will now be played at Churchill Park in Lautoka from the 7th to the 12th October 2025.

Fiji Football Association says this decision has been made following advice from the Ba Town Council, who have informed them this morning that they will not be able to provide floodlights for the night matches.

Fiji FA says when they first confirmed Ba as the host venue, they were informed that the Council would be working with a contractor to provide temporary floodlights during the tournament, however, they have now been officially notified that this will no longer be possible.

They say the FMF IDC is the biggest tournament in the Fiji FA calendar, involving all 20 districts across three divisions, and draws fans from all over the country and abroad.

Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel says the change was necessary to ensure the smooth running of the tournament.

He says they were all looking forward to bringing the FMF IDC to Ba and giving fans a chance to enjoy the tournament at the new stadium but unfortunately, with the floodlights not being available, they had to make a prompt decision.

Patel says Churchill Park has confirmed its availability and they are confident the tournament will be a success in Lautoka.

Fiji FA says they acknowledge and thank the Ba Town Council for their support and initial commitment and hope to bring future major events to Ba once the venue is able to meet the requirements for evening matches.
