Natabua High School’s Josefata Tuinavitilevu and Jasper Williams High School’s Vaciseva Naibena have been crowned the Coca Cola Lautoka Zone Blue Ribbon Champions in the boys’ and girls’ divisions respectively.

While speaking to fijivillage Sports, Tuinavitilevu says even though he scooped the Blue Ribbon title, he is still not happy with his time.

The Nasolo, Bua young man says he received tough competition from St Thomas High School and Central College Lautoka athletes, but he was determined to win the title.

During the heats, Tuinavitilevu missed out on his actual heat as he did not hear the sound of the starter gun go off due to the loud noise, so he had to be given a second chance by the officials to run in the last heat of the 100 metres event.

He says he was thankful to the officials for their understanding, and it is now on him to prove his worth in the national finals.

The 18-year-old finished with an unofficial time of 10.40 seconds.

Meanwhile, due to power outage, medal tally updates were delayed and officials will release the updated tallies from the finals that occurred this afternoon, early tomorrow morning.
