Chiefs of Lau have presented a isevusevu and a tabua to the Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to convey their appreciation to the coalition government for winning the 2022 general election.

Rabuka says he received a courtesy visit from the chiefs of Lau at his home in Namadi Heights yesterday afternoon.

He says it might be a rare visit but it certainly is one that reaffirms their close ties and links as traditional kinsmen of the Tovata Confederacy.

Rabuka says as Head of the coalition government, he will ensure that the chiefs in Fiji are recognised through the soon-to-be restablished Great Council of Chiefs.

He says he later had a talanoa with the chiefs where they directly raised with him pressing issues that affect them daily.

The Prime Minister says he is delighted to note that the chiefs are in full support of a very important ocean conservation programme which is the Lau Seascape and they will be deliberating more in the future about this programme.
