The Chairman of the Lomani Au, Maroroi Au Group, Sipiriano Nariva

The landowners in the districts of Wainikoroiluva and Namosi in the Province of Namosi and also in the district of Waidina in Naitasiri want the government to hold consultations and engage all the mataqali in the district of Wainikoroiluva, Namosi and Waidina on the impacts of mining. The Chairman of the Lomani Au, Maroroi Au Group, Sipiriano Nariva, says landowners who are part of this group stand for the fact that they go against mining.

Lomani Au, Maroroi Au Group consist of landowners from the district of Wainikoroiluva, Namosi and Waidina.

Nariva says even in the process of exploration over the years, disputes have arisen among villagers, mataqali and also amongst the families in the village. He says they do not want the disagreement to continue because it will affect the harmony and the bond that living in the villages is known for.

He says the effects of mining will pollute the water and land and also affect the lives of people. He adds if we take care of our land, then only it will produce more for our livelihoods.
