Labasa beats Navua 2-1 in extra to win BOG title back-to-back

Labasa beats Navua 2-1 in extra to win BOG title back-to-back

Labasa has won the Rooster Chicken/Scoops Ice Cream BOG title for the second time in a row after beating Navua 2-1 in extra time.

Player of the Tournament, Christopher Wasasala scored for Labasa in the second half but Navua's Jared Rongosulia equalised through a penalty minutes later.

The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of second half.

Rusiate Doidoi scored for Labasa in the first spell of extra time.

Labasa's goal keeper and captain, veteran, Simione Tamanisau won the Golden Boot while Lautoka's Sairusi Nalaubu was the highest goal scorer of the tournament.

Labasa's new coach, Intiaz Ali says their were a lot of doubts in the beginning of the tournament and it is not like he has proven something but he has done his job and the players have done theirs.

He says he is surprised that Navua did not pressure them as Labasa had played 120 minutes yesterday and were again under the same strain today.

Ali says he is pleased with his team's discipline both on and off the field.

It was a bitter loss for Navua as they made it through to the final for the first time since 2010 but were fell short.

Meanwhile, Ba is the Women's BOG champion after beating Labasa 5-4 in the final round robin match at the HFC Bank Stadium today.
