The Land Transport Authority has received six sets of Portable Motor Vehicle Weighing Systems from Vantex Solutions which will monitor and curb overloading issues on Fiji’s roads.

LTA Acting CEO, Irimaia Rokosawa highlighted the critical impact of overloading on road infrastructure and safety and says overloading accelerates and prematurely wears down the road infrastructure.

Rokosawa says overloading not only damages the roads but also poses serious safety risks as overloaded vehicles can lead to dangerous situations on the roads.

The CEO further says the Portable Motor Vehicle Weighing Systems will be strategically distributed to LTA enforcement teams across the country.

He says these systems are designed to be highly mobile, allowing enforcement teams to monitor and address overloading issues at locations where it is most prevalent.

Rokosawa says he is confident in the positive impact as the enforcement teams will be better equipped to monitor and enforce regulations, ultimately leading to safer and more durable road infrastructure,.

He adds the new equipment would be deployed to key locations identified through LTA’s ongoing monitoring efforts.
