Land Transport Authority CEO Irimaia Rokosawa [L] The accident that occured on King’s Road, Vitogo, Lautoka

Failure to follow road safety measures led to a serious accident yesterday afternoon on King’s Road, Vitogo, Lautoka where a bus collided with a 4x4 vehicle, hospitalising 18 people at the Lautoka Hospital.

Land Transport Authority CEO Irimaia Rokosawa expresses his concern on this accident and has urged people to be cautious, especially when we are nearing the festive season.

He says it was disappointing to see continued disregard for critical safety measures, which puts lives at risk.

He adds that despite frequent safety campaigns by the LTA, he has noted that drivers continue to take unnecessary risks, particularly during adverse weather.

Rokosawa says drivers need to be reminded that the cyclone season in Fiji will further increase road dangers.

Meanwhile, fijivillage News have sent questions to Police on this accident, but they have yet to respond.
