LA 7s: Fijiana thumped 26-5 by Australia

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side have just been thumped 26-5 by Australia in their first pool game at the HSBC SVNS World Championship in Los Angeles.

Australia put on a masterclass scoring four tries to Fiji’s one, controlling the pace of the game from the beginning.

They scored first through Bridget Clark in the second minute.

Ilisapeci Delaiwau received a yellow card in the fourth minute for some cynical play, however the Fijiana were able to hold Australia scoreless until she got back on the field.

Madisson Levi got a try just before halftime for them to lead 12-0 into the break.

Australia got two more tries in the second half through Isabella Nasser and Mackenzie Davis while Verenaisi Ditavutu finally got Fiji on the score board.

The Fijiana will play France next at 9.29am before facing the USA at 1.02pm in their last pool match.

The women’s semi finals are at 7.40am tomorrow with the cup final at 12.05pm tomorrow.
