Heavy rain warning cancelled while flash flood alert remains for a number of areas

Kings Road near Tavua Town is now open to traffic

A heavy rain warning previously in force for western and northern parts of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby islands and Yasawa and Mamanuca Group has been cancelled.

However, the Nadi Weather Office says rain bands will affect parts of the country till later today.

A flash flood alert remains in force for low lying areas and areas adjacent to streams and rivers for Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki to Korovou and low lying areas and areas adjacent to streams in Nabouwalu through Kubulau to Dawara in Vanua Levu.

A trough of low pressure remains slow moving just to the west of Fiji and is expected to gradually drift westwards away from the group.

Meanwhile, the Kings Road near Tavua Town is now open to traffic as floodwaters have receded.
