Fiji’s sensation long distance runner Yeshnil Karan has broken Fiji’s 31-year-old half marathon record at the Oceania Athletics Championships in a time of 1 hour 7 minutes and 40 seconds.

Kiran broke the 31-year-old record held by Bineshwar Prasad, which was 67 minutes 57 seconds clocked in Las Vegas in 1993.

Karan says he did not execute his run well earlier in the week during the 1,500 metres run and told fijivillage News that he will back strong in the marathon event.

The 2023 Pacific Games triple gold medalist was competing in the Munro Leys Suva Marathon, which is part of the 2024 Oceania Athletics Championships.

Meanwhile, Oceania Athletics Championships has concluded yesterday.
