The need to expand Kalabu Primary School and Kalabu Secondary School remains a significant challenge due to lack of support in accommodating the growing number of students in a congested area.

While speaking to fijivillage News, school manager Asaeli Malewa says the management is working on expanding the schools to meet the needs of the population in and around the Kalabu area, as well as other nearby communities.

Malewa says the current enrollment for the primary school is approximately 700 students, while the secondary school accommodates about 200 students.

The school manager says they aim to introduce two streams from Year 9 to Year 13 but currently, only Year 9 has two streams.

Malewa further highlighted plans to establish a vocational centre, recognising that not all students will pursue university education but many excel in trade skills.

He also says that the school has reached out to donors for assistance in supporting these initiatives.
