Year 13 student Joana Divesi from Shri Guru Nanak Khalsa College was crowned Miss Duavata Northern Crime Prevention Carnival last night in Labasa.

Originally from Nukubolu Village in Cakaudrove, Divesi says she was confident about winning the title, thanks to the strong support of her family and friends.

She now plans to use her platform to raise awareness about drug abuse, especially among children and youth in schools and communities across the Northern Division.

Divesi further says the rise in drug use in the North is deeply concerning, and she hopes her role can help curb the trend by encouraging open conversations and stronger education efforts.

The year 13 student says children should never turn to drugs to solve their problems because they are the future of our country, and drugs will only harm their chances.

The Duavata Crime Prevention Carnival focuses on promoting safety, community engagement, and crime prevention initiatives throughout the Northern Division.
