‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ will return to ABC tonight, ending a nearly week-long standoff over the late-night talk show.
ABC Network says discussions are still ongoing as they evaluate the show’s long-term future.
The controversy began after conservatives criticized a recent Kimmel monologue, specifically his comments about Make America Great Again (MAGA) responses to the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Last Wednesday, Brendan Carr — a close ally of former President Donald Trump — publicly suggested that Kimmel should be suspended and cited Federal Communications Commission (FCC) oversight of local TV stations.
Within hours, two major station groups, Sinclair and Nexstar, indicated they would preempt Kimmel locally.
ABC later suspended the show entirely — a stunning move that sparked national debate over government interference and freedom of speech.
